Dr. Yaw A. Boafo

Dr. Yaw Agyeman Boafo is the Lead for Nature-based Solutions and Sustainable Environmental Development at Ecozak Africa, where he spearheads the design and execution of nature-based interventions that regenerate degraded landscapes, support biodiversity, and enhance community resilience. His leadership anchors Ecozak Africa’s strategic commitment to science-based, socially inclusive, and ecologically balanced solutions.

An accomplished social ecologist and sustainability scientist, Dr. Boafo holds a PhD in Sustainability Science from the United Nations University in Tokyo and serves as a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Climate Change and Sustainability Studies, University of Ghana. His research and practice span Africa and Asia, with pioneering contributions in climate adaptation, biodiversity conservation, hydro-meteorological risk reduction, urban heat governance, and participatory resilience planning.

Dr. Boafo is renowned for his ability to bridge traditional ecological knowledge with scientific inquiry, advancing context-responsive climate solutions that are both innovative and grounded in local realities.
